Lord God, we think of Jesus today as we journey with him during Holy Week,
how one of his own friends would betray him,
one of his friends who sat by him and who broke bread with him.
Merciful Lord, we pray that you give us strength to walk faithfully with Jesus even when the road we walk is rocky,
even when the message of the cross is mocked by others,
even when we ourselves feel frustrated and confused,
even when we ourselves feel betrayed.
Lord, you are always faithful.
Even when we stumble and when we are lost,
Even when we miss the mark and when we stray from our path,
You are sure and steady.
Lord, we ask that you grant us the grace to endure our struggles and our troubles,
To reveal to us the glory of your kingdom,
Through your son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.
