In the
penitential rite that I proclaimed at one of the daily masses this past week,
it named Christ’s “humble power.” I
found that interesting, because we don’t really talk about “humble” power in
our modern American society. We probably
thin of power as anything but humble. I
recently received a book written by Father Michael Crosby entitled The Paradox
of Power: From Control to Compassion.
How we use power in our lives in the different roles we have is perhaps
something we could contemplate and reflect upon as we prepare for Christ’s
birth at Christmas and journey through the Year of Mercy.
