A Prayer in a Time of Violence, Fear, and Terrorism

Each Sunday, we are concluding our Eucharistic celebration with a prayer for peace.  Here is our prayer for Sunday, December 13, 2015, Guadete Sunday.

God of mercy,
through your son Jesus Christ,
you teach us to love one another,
to love our neighbors as ourselves,
to love our enemies.
In a time of violence, fear, and terrorism
we ask for the the peace of Christ rule in our hearts,
so that we may not be overcome with evil
but that we may overcome evil with good.
Help all of us to live in the light and love and grace
that Christ brings to our world.
Awaken us to the coming of Christ into our world.
Establish among us a future where peace reigns,
where justice is done with mercy,
where brothers and sisters are reconciled,
where violent hearts are converted.
In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

AMEN.
