Introduction: We are at the final weekend for the month of October. We have commemorated Respect Life Month, World Missions month, and the Month of Mary and the Month of Mary all within the month of October. As individuals and as a community of faith, may we continue to work to incorporate these essential components into the way we live out our Catholic faith each day.
Priest: Penitential rite:
Lord Jesus - you bring us reconciliation and healing.
Christ Jesus - you listen to the prayers of the poor and the needy.
Lord Jesus - you are the source of salvation.
Priest: May we come to the Lord today with joyful hearts as we present our prayers to our heavenly Father:
1. That we in the Church may recognize our need for God and resist relying upon our own efforts to justify ourselves. We pray to the Lord.
2. That the Holy Spirit teach us how to pray so that we may deepen our dependency upon God and open us up to the length and breadth of God’s love and mercy. We pray to the Lord.
3. That we may proclaim the greatness of God and show God’s love and concern for all who face the burdens of life. We pray to the Lord.
4. That we may come before God honestly and humbly, surrendering our pride, and recognizing the limits of our strengths and abilities. We pray to the Lord.
5. That we may recognize all our gifts, possessions and opportunities as gifts from God and place each of them in the service of God. That we may always have a spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving. We pray to the Lord.
6. For all who are suffering or being oppressed for their Christian faith. May God comfort them, strengthen them, and bring them safely through their trials and sufferings. We pray to the Lord.
7. For greater respect for each person. That God will turn the hearts of all who rely upon violence and bring healing to all who have suffered harm, abuse or neglect. We pray to the Lord.
8. For the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts. For our prayer intentions spoken and unspoken. We pray to the Lord.
Priest: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the blessings we have in life. We thank you for your grace that helps us meet our sufferings and our challenges. We present these prayers to you today through your son Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
