Introduction - This weekend, we commemorate World Mission Sunday, celebrating the worldwide missionary effort of the Catholic Church and the mission of the Church to evangelize the world. We unite in solidarity this weekend with missionaries all around the world. May our Catholic community of St Michael here at CMCF embody this missionary spirit in all of our endeavors.
Lord Jesus - you love us with your sacred heart.
Christ Jesus - you call us to be missionary in spirit.
Lord Jesus - you hear the cry of the poor.
Priest - As we commemorate World mission Sunday today, we present our prayers to our heavenly Father with joy in our hearts:
1. That all of us Christians be persistent in our prayers and be attentive to God’s invitation to a life of discipleship.
2. That we in the Church have a missionary spirit that drives our efforts to evangelize our local community and support our Church’s missions throughout the world. We pray to the Lord.
3. That God will sustain us as we encounter challenges and obstacles on our journey and keep us faithful to the virtues of the Gospel in our decisions and actions. We pray to the Lord.
4.That we be more aware of those who are forgotten by society and raise their needs and aspirations before others. We pray to the Lord.
5. For those who are ill or afflicted. For those who are close to death or who are suffering from long-term illness. For those struggling with addictions and mental health issues. For comfort and healing. We pray to the Lord.
6.That our words and actions proclaim the Gospel of life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. We pray to the Lord.
7. That we grow in our love of sacred Scripture. That our hearts may desire to hear and learn more about God’s holy word and be open to the insights it offers. We pray to the Lord.
8. For the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts today.
Priest - As we unite our prayers today with our Mother Mary and the entire community of saints, we present these prayers today through your son Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
