Spanish lessons at St Jude - starting the last week in February

After receiving a lot of good interest in having Spanish lessons here at St Jude, we are going to start our Spanish lessons the last week of February.  We will start with the basics, including pronunciation and learning basic words and looking at basic Spanish grammar.  The emphasis will be on Spanish in the context of the Catholic Church, including the basic prayers in the Spanish and basic Church vocabulary.  We will also look at some of the Spanish Catholic cultural traditions.  As most of you know, I spent three years as a missionary in Ecuador.  I have a MA in Education from Ole Miss specializing in the teaching of languges.  I was a member of the Mississippi Teacher Corps for four years from 2000 - 2004, where I taught Spanish on the high school and elementary school level in the Greenville Public Schools.  I have studied in Argentina, Chile, and Costa Rica, and have traveled extenstively in the country of Spain, mostly on pilgrimage.  The lessons will be one hour each.  I will also have things such as videos and notes for you to be able to practice at home.  I am hoping to start with six weeks of lessons.  We will take a break for Holy Week and Easter and then will talk about starting after that if there is continued interest.  Two of the lesson times each week will be in-person.  There is an option for those who would like to have the lessons on Zoom, who do not feel comfortable coming in-person.  I am excited to be able offer these Spanish lesson to all of you, as I really love the Spanish language.

Here are the dates of the first lessons:

Thursday - February 24 - 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm - in-person in the St Jude classroom in the church office building

Thursday - February 24 - 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm - Zoom

Friday - February 25 - right after the 10;00 am Mass in the St Jude classroom.

Blessings to all of you - Father Lincoln
