Almighty God, in whose Name the founders of this country won liberty for themselves and for us,
lighting the torch of freedom for nations then were not yet born,
grant that we and all the people our blessed country may have grace to maintain our liberties in righteousness and peace.
As we celebrate our nation’s independence day,
we ask you help us protect the gift of religious liberty
by which our country was founded.
We ask you to give us the strength of mind and heart
to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened.
Give us courage in making our voices heard
on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.
We humbly ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
