Prayer for Canada Day
Eternal God,
whose reign extends from sea to sea,
whose care endures throughout history,
hear our prayers for the beloved country
of Canada as it celebrates its national holiday.
Grant wisdom to those who govern it.
Grant respect for human life and dignity
to every citizen and resident.
May justice may flourish throughout the land
and may all people there live in unity and peace.
Grant reconciliation and peace for those wounds
and hurts that still need to be healed.
May Canada be a beacon of truth and justice,
unity and peace, among the nations of the world.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
