Greetings to everyone. We left Jackson the day after Easter, and now we are getting ready to arrive in the city of Santiago de Compostela to where the Apostle James the Greater is buried. We are so excited about this endpoint of our pilgrimage. We have been traveling these last day through the region of Galicia on our way to Santiago. The weather is still cold and rainy, although we have had more sun in the past few days. After having had such a warm and dry winter, Spain has been experiencing an unusually cold and wet spring. However, this has not dampened our pilgrims´spirit. The last few days have been very beautiful walks. The region of Galicia is very mountainous and hilly, and we walk through small town that look the way they have looked centuries ago. Last night we spent the night in the town of Ribadiso in a pilgrims´hostel on the banks of a beautiful river. The hostel is one of the oldest still in use, and has housed pilgrims for many centuries. These past few days I have especially felt the pull of the pilgrimage on my heart, and have felt close to the many millions of pilgrims who have walked these same trails since the 9th century. When we arrive in Santiago, we will give the statue of James in the cathedral a big hug, a long-standing pilgrimage tradition.
Thank you for all the love and support I have received from so many people. Our prayer go out to you, and I will say a special prayer for all of you as I arrive in Santiago. God bless -
