After walking for about two weeks, Lyons Walsh from St Richard parish joined us in Spain for the last part of our journey. If sent the two ladies ahead of us to the city of Astorga, while I met Lyons in the city of Leon. As Lyons and I started our journey of walking to Santiago from the city of Astorga, we saw this letter clipped to a tree that the ladies had left us, telling us that it was not far from where we would spend the night, and giving us encouragement along the way. The pilgrims are always reaching out to each other and giving each other encouragement as they all journey toward Santiago and the resting place of St James the Greater. The camaraderie amongst the pilgrims and the spirit of telling them to have a good journey, to have a "Buen Camino," is one of the ways God speaks to the pilgrims along the way. We all need to be lights of Christ, lights of encouragement, to our brothers and sisters.
