GIVING THANKS -

So often in our modern lives, we don't give thanks for what we have.  It is easy to concentrate on the daily grind of life, and not give thanks to God and to our family and our friends.  I found this prayer by Chief Tecumseh of the Shawnee nation that was written in the early nineteenth century.  I like the attitude of thanksgiving that it expresses -

GIVE THANKS

When you arise in the morning, give
thanks for the morning light.

Give thanks for your life and your strength.

Give thanks for your food,
and give thanks for the joy of living.

And if you see no reason for giving thanks,
rest assured that the fault is in yourself.
