Three candles, including the rose candle, are lit today on Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent.
Lord, as we light these candles today, may their light
be a beacon of hope and joy to us.
As John the Baptist baptized the people of Ancient Israel in the Jordan River, preparing them for the coming of the Lord,
preparing them with light, hope, and expectation,
may we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus when he is born in the humble manger in Bethlehem at Christmas time. AMEN.
