In his declaration of the Sunday of the Word of God to be celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time each year, Pope Francis makes an intrinsic connection between holy Scripture and our faith, that we must read Sacred Scripture and have it penetrate our lives in order to grow in our faith. There are the words he uses:
“A profound bond links sacred Scripture and the faith of believers. Since faith comes from hearing, and what is heard is based on the word of Christ (cf. Rom 10:17), believers are bound to listen attentively to the word of the Lord, both in the celebration of the liturgy and in their personal prayer and reflection.”
