8 July 2018 - 14th Sunday of ordinary time - Cycle B - mass introductions and prayers of the faithful

Penitential rite:  As Jesus call us today in his word and the Eucharist, as we prepare for this celebration, we call to mind our sins:
Lord Jesus  - You call us to faith - Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus - You call us to discipleship - Christ have mercy.
Lord Jesus - You call us to practice mercy - Lord have mercy.

Prayers of the faithful:
Priest:  As we meet Jesus in the ordinary moments of our daily lives, we reach out to him in faith and confidence in our prayers:

1. We pray that God will continue to enrich the Church by calling forth sons and daughters to serve God and his people as ordained ministers, consecrated religious, and lay leaders.

2. That people throughout the world will work for justice so that all may experience peace.

3. We pray that you bless all who extend their helping hands to those in need of food, shelter and clothing, who share their time, talents and resources with others.

4. That all of make live lives of thanksgiving and gratitude, that we commit ourselves to healing old hurts and wounds.

5. That the Holy Spirit may encourage us to bring Christ’s Gospel to the world.

6. For the sick and shut-ins, for those battling addictions, for those who have been injured in acts of war and violence.  For healing and reconciliation.

7. For those prayers we have in our hearts.

Priest: God of mercy, lead us out of our doubts, our insecurities, our disbelief.  We present these prayers in the name of your son Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever.
