Mass introductions and prayers of the faithful - feast of the Epiphany - January 7, 2018

We celebrate Jesus as the light of the nations today in the visit of the Magi to the child Jesus.  In preparation of the sacred mysteries we celebrate in our mass, let us call to mind our sins:

Lord Jesus, you are the king of kings - Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus, you are a bright shining light - Christ have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you are the shepherd of the nations - Lord have mercy.

Prayers of the Faithful:
(PRIEST) -  Trusting in the light the illuminates our faith, let our bring our prayers to God.
1. For Pope Francis, for our Church leaders, and for all believers, that they may carry the light of faith to all in the midst of the darkness of our world.
2. For the leaders of the nations, that they promote religious freedom for all their people.
3. For those who suffering religious persecution, that they be allowed to freely practice their faith in Jesus Christ.
4. For those who suffer from different things in the lives - addictions, poverty, homelessness, depression, or mental illness - may they feel the Lord accompanying them in their reality.
5. For the children of the community of the world, that they may be a sign of God’s delight in creation.
6. For the sick and shut-ins, for the repose of the souls of the faithful departed.
(PRIEST) -  Ruler of the nations, you light the earth with  your glory and fill it with your blessings.  May you make your people a beacon of hope in the darkness.  W ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord forever and ever.
