Penitential rite:
As we celebrate around the altar of the Lord as a community of faith, we call to mind our sins:
Lord Jesus, you bring us hope. Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus, you bring us joy. Christ have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you call us to renew our spirits. Lord have mercy.
Prayers of the faithful:
Priest - The Lord raises up those who are bowed down. Let us bring forward our prayers to God with confidence.
1. For all religious leaders, especially Pope Francis and Bishop Joseph Kopacz, that their own faith may be genuine and sincere and an example for their flock.
2. For Christians everywhere, that they may be merciful and generous in spirit.
3. For the poor in spirit, that their trust in God may give them encouragement.
4. For our world, that as we celebrate Veterans Day this weekend, that we give thanks for all who have served in the military, that we all may be peacemakers.
5. For those who grieve. For those faithful departed we remember during this month of remembrance. May God give us comfort and hope.
6. For those who died in the recent acts of terrorism in Texas and New York. We pray that anger and frustration may be turned into reconciliation and healing.
7. For the sick and shut-in. For those in the hospital, hospice, and nursing home.
Priest - Lord, you support those in sorrow or pain: help us in all our needs as we make our prayers through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord for ever and ever. Amen.
