Holy Lord, almighty Father,
you created all things from nothing;
You commanded the bees to
produce wax which is made into candles.
On this day, you fulfilled
the prayers of Simeon:
We humbly implore you thru
the invocation of your holy name & through the intercession of Blessed Virgin Mary & all
of your saints:
Deign to bless and sanctify
these candles for human use, for the welfare of our bodies and our souls.
These your servants desire to
live out the light of Christ in their lives and to be the light of Christ to
the world.
Hear their voices graciously
from Heaven & from the throne of your majesty; be merciful to all who cry out
to you, whom you have redeemed by the blood of your Son.
Lord Jesus Christ, true light that
enlightens everyone who comes into the world, bestow your blessing upon these
candles.
Sanctify them with the light
of your grace.
As these candles with their
visible fire dispel the darkness of night, so may our hearts with the help of
your grace be enlightened by the invisible fire & splendor of the Holy
Spirit, & be free from all blindness of sin.
Clarify the eyes of our minds
that we may see what is pleasing to you and conducive to our salvation.
After the dark perils of this
life, let us be worthy to reach the
eternal light.
Through you, Jesus Christ,
Savior of the world, who in perfect Trinity lives and reigns, one God, for ever
and ever. Amen.
