We had a special feast at our parish celebrating the solemnity of St Joseph with the St Joseph Table. Any left over food was given to the poor. It celebrates a tradition started in Sicily, when a town undergoing a famine prayed for the intercessions of St Joseph and the famine ended. In gratitude, the town held a feast and invited the poor to attend. Many Italian parishes in the United States continue this tradition. Being held on a Friday during Lent, we had a lot of rice, pasta, and fish dishes. It was a great feast enjoyed by a lot of people.
