Our parish has carried stones during Lent. We are going to place them at the cross of Jesus when we venerate the cross on Good Friday. The rocks symbolize all that is weighing us down on our journey, all that we need to leave at the cross of Christ. We have been singing the hymn "Living Stones" by Vince Ambrosetti during Lent to emphasize this theme. Here are the lyrics of the refrain -
Be as living stones,
let yourselves be holy
temple of our God,
priesthood of the Lord.
Offer up yourself:
Gift of transformation,
sacrifice of love,
presence now restored.
