This weekend, we celebrate the first weekend of October. October is a busy month for us in the Catholic faith. This Sunday is the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, who saw God in nature and in animals and in all of creation. This year marks the 800th year anniversary of this death. The legacy of St Francis endures to this day in the way our Church promotes a greater sense of stewardship of the earth and its resources and in the tradition of Franciscan spirituality that is very popular in our modern world. October is also the month in which we honor the respect of human life. This weekend, we celebrate Respect Life Sunday. Also, October is the month of World Missions. October is a wonderful month in which we celebrate different aspects of our Catholic faith with great joy. We hope to celebrate these different aspects of our faith throughout the month of October.
