I always find it interesting to look at the saints and feast days that we commemorate each week. In the beginning of the week, we commemorated the exaltation of the most holy cross, Our Lady of Sorrows, and two martyrs from the third century: St Cornelius and St Cyprian. Then on Thursday, we commemorated Doctor of the Church St Hildegard of Bingen, a Benedictine abbess and mystic from Germany in the 12th century. Then, on Friday, we celebrated the humble Italian Franciscan friar Joseph of Cupertino from the 17th century. Those are five very interesting celebrations that reflect different aspects of our Catholic faith. We hope that you will stop by the reception that will be offered at the end of the three masses at our parishes this weekend.
