Prayers of the faithful - Feast of the Transfiguration - 6 August 2020

Lord Jesus - you are the Son of God

Christ Jesus - you are God’s holy messenger

Lord Jesus - you call us to conversion and renewal

Priest: As we celebrate the Transfiguration today, we bring our prayers to our loving Father.

1. For the Church: may our eyes and hearts be open to a fuller understanding of who Jesus is: both the glorious Son of God and the suffering Son of Man as we listen to the Word and share in the Eucharist.

2. For the grace to be faithful witnesses: may we give testimony to Christ as we see God at work in us and in the lives of those around us.

3. For the grace to daily recognize Christ: may God give us open and attentive hearts to see Jesus in the many ways He comes to us and have the courage to respond to follow the vocation wherever Christ leads us as priests, religious, single or married persons.

4. For those who doubt or who have lost hope: may the glory of the Transfiguration free them from despair and open a new vision for what God can do for each person

5. For peace: may God help leaders to end violence in our streets and to bring about justice, healing and reconciliation.

6. For all in sickness or grief: may Christ’s light and resurrection guide them to newness of life. We pray for the repose of the souls of the faithful departed.

7. For those prayers we hold in our hearts today.

Priest: In awe of Christ’s glory, we present our prayers through him, for he is our Lord for ever and ever.  AMEN.
