Easter is not just one day of the Easter. Easter joy should permeate each day of our journey through life as disciples of Christ. The Church devotes an entire season to this Easter joy, a season which ends with the celebration of Pentecost. During the Easter season, we remember the rising from the dead of Christ, our Lord and our Savior. Christ triumphs over the grave, Christ releases us from our sins, Christ gives us meaning and significance. Without the risen Christ, the rest of our faith would not have meaning.
The great gift of Easter is hope – Christian hope which makes us have that confidence in God, in his ultimate triumph, and in his goodness and love, which nothing can shake. (Basil Hume)
