30 August 2026 - prayers of the faithful for the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time CYCLE A - prison ministry

Penitential Rite - priest or deacon:

Lord Jesus - you call us to carry our crosses.

Christ Jesus - you are our savior and our redeemer.

Lord Jesus - you will come again in glory.

Priest: May we seek from God what is good and acceptable. In our prayers of intercession today that we make in faith, we strive always to discern the will of God:

1. We pray for Pope Leo XIV, Bishop Kopacz, and all Church leaders. By their witness of word and example, may they encourage us to take up our crosses each day and to follow Jesus. We pray to the Lord.

2.  We pray for our governmental leaders. May God grant them the gift of wisdom to equip them to serve all people well. We pray to the Lord.

3, We pray for those who are suffering because of their belief in Christ. May they remain steadfast in their faith, knowing that other Christians are praying for them as they carry their crosses. We pray to the Lord.

4.  We pray for the sick and afflicted of our community. For the men in the infirmary and the BMU. For all those who have asked for our prayers. We pray to the Lord.

5. We pray for our deceased loved ones and family members and those who have died recently. May they rejoice in the presence of God’s unconditional love. We pray to the Lord.

6. We pray for the people of the Holy Land. May this land where Jesus lived be blessed with lasting peace for all who live there. We pray to the Lord.

7. For our children, youth, and college students. May the Lord bless them in their studies and in their school activities. We pray to the Lord.

8. For the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts. For our prayer intentions spoken and unspoken. We pray to the Lord.

Priest: God of compassion, listen to our petitions on behalf of all those who are in need of your mercy and healing. We ask this through Christ, our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
