Introduction: In our liturgy today, God asks us to look at the ways we reach out to those on the margins as we hear the Gospel story of the rich man and Lazarus today. As we receive Christ in the Eucharist at Mass today and as we encounter God in his holy word, we are challenged to live out his word and the spirit of the Eucharist as we leave Mass today in our encounter with the reality of the world around us.
Priest: Penitential Rite:
Lord Jesus, you bring us your Father’s love. Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus, you have the heart of a servant. Christ have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you are our redeemer and our savior. Lord have mercy.
Priest: With awe and wonder, let us present our prayer to our heavenly Father:
1. For Pope Leo XIV, for Bishop Joseph, Kopacz, and all our Church leaders, that they hold fast to their noble confession of faith and to their love of the Gospel. We pray to the Lord.
2. That the nations of the world work together in a spirit of cooperation and collaboration. We pray to the Lord.
3. That the poor, the sick, the oppressed, and those in spiritual crisis may have the comfort of our compassionate love and our earnest prayers. We pray to the Lord.
4. That our minds and hearts be cognizant of the different ways the word of God is present to us in our lives. We pray to the Lord.
5. That we may reach out to others in our parish and in our community in a spirit of welcome and hospitality. We pray to the Lord.
6. That our faithful departed may rejoice in the light of the divine presence. We pray to the Lord.
7. For the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts today. For all our prayer intentions spoken and unspoken. We pray to the Lord.
Priest: As we unite our prayers with the prayers of Mary, the Archangels, and all the community of saints, we present our prayers through your son Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
