Introduction: Today, we commemorate the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We gather for Mass today as a people of faith to hear God’s word and to receive the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist. As we hear God call us to justice and the special love and mercy God has has for the poor and the marginalized, may we reflect upon the ways that we live out God’s word and the spirit of the Eucharist in our lives each day.
Priest: Penitential rite:
Lord Jesus - you are the way, the truth, and the life. Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus - you call us to faith and hope. Christ have mercy.
Lord Jesus - you have a heart of mercy. Lord have mercy.
Priest: In joy and trust, we present our prayers to our heavenly Father for our needs, the needs of the Church, and the needs of our neighbor:
1. That all our Church leaders and all who preach God’s word in the Church may proclaim his word with courage and love. We pray to the Lord.
2. That the leaders of the nations may fulfill their obligations faithfully and establish good will amongst all peoples. We pray to the Lord.
3. That God may lift up those who have been afflicted with sickness, poverty, oppression, or grief. We pray to the Lord.
4. That our business leaders may run their affairs with Gospel values and sound ethics. We pray to the Lord.
5. That all of us may cultivate in our lives a greater sense of gratitude and thanksgiving. We pray to the Lord.
6. That the faithful departed may rejoice with the community of saints in God’s kingdom. We pray to the Lord.
7. That that Lord continue to accompany our children, youth, their parents, and their teachers throughout the school year. We pray to the Lord.
8. For the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts. For our prayer intentions spoken and unspoken. We pray to the Lord.
Priest: Heavenly Father, as we hear your holy word and receive Christ’s body and blood in the eucharist at Mass today, we present our prayers through Christ, for he is our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
