Heavenly Father, we ask for a blessing for our earthly fathers today, for the ways that they reflect the love, wisdom, and mercy that you, O Lord, exemplify with your relationship with us.
We thank our fathers for the ways they put our needs before their own, for teaching us to face adversity, for challenging us to do our best, for helping us into adulthood.
As our fathers try to live up to these ideals, give them the grace to learn from their mistakes, the grace to forgive and to reconcile, the grace to move forward with humility and peace of heart.
We ask your blessings upon all who’ve served as father figures for us. May the love and selflessness they’ve showed us be shown to them, to help them to know that their influence has changed us for the better.
Give new and future fathers the guidance they need to raise their children, grounded in a love for God and love of neighbor, treating their family with dignity, compassion and respect.
We pray that our fathers who have passed into eternal life have been welcomed into your loving embrace.
In union with St. Joseph, whom you entrusted with Your son, we ask for your generous blessings on these men today and every day. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. AMEN.
