Mass introductions - The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ - 18 June 2017

1. Introduction to Penitential rite and introduction to mass:
As we gather at our Eucharist today, we celebrate what it means to receive the Eucharist into our lives, to live the Eucharist.  On today’s solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, we approach the Lord’s altar with in our hearts for the gift of the Eucharist, calling to mind our sins:
Lord Jesus, you are the bread of life, Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus, you give us spiritual and bodily nourishment, Christ have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you lead us to eternal life, Lord have Mercy.
May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.  AMEN.

2. Introduction to the Creed:
With faith in the Body and Blood of Christ that we receive, let us now profess that faith:

3. Prayers of the faithful
Prayers of the Faithful:  As receiving the Body and Blood of Christ into our lives in a special way in the Eucharist, in a way that transforms our lives and that transforms our perspective on life, let us present our prayers to God:
1.  May the Church, the Body of Christ, help us to deepen our devotion to the Eucharistic sacrifice, which gives life to the world.  We pray to the Lord
2. For all those who extend their helping hands to those in need of food, shelter and clothing, who share their time, talents and resources with others.  We pray to the Lord.
3.  In profound gratitude for Jesus' life on earth. Through it, you showed us how deeply you love us.  We pray to the Lord.
4.  For the grace to adore the presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.  We pray to the Lord.
5. For victims of violence and terrorism.  For victims of natural disaster.  For the aide they need to recover.  We pray to the Lord.
6. For the sick and shut-ins of our community.  For those suffering from cancer.  From those in the hospital, hospice, and nursing homes.   We pray to the Lord.
7. For all our fathers and our grandfathers.  For all the men who have fathered us and guided us in very many ways.  We express our love for them today as we celebrate Father’s Day.  Let us pray to the Lord.
