Lord Jesus - you bring peace to your people - Lord, have mercy.
Christ Jesus - you come to all who are lost - Christ, have mercy.
Lord Jesus - you have come to create a new world - Lord, have mercy.
Prayers of the faithful:
Priest: On this joyful Gaudete Sunday, let us bring our prayers to God, who raises up the downtrodden and the lowly.
1. That God may bless and sustain Pope Francis and all the leaders of our Church, both lay and ordained.
2. That all Christians may have joy as they prepare for Christmas and the coming of the Lord.
3. That people may be touched by the simple message of the child Jesus born in the humble manger in Bethlehem.
4. That families who are in need may be helped.
5. That those who suffer because of the addiction either of themselves or of a family member may find help and support.
6. For those who have died, that they may be raised up to eternal life.
7. For the prayers we hold in our hearts today.
Priest: O God, you keep faith with those in need of your kindness and justice. Receive the prayers we make today through your son Jesus Christ our Lord for ever and ever. Amen.
