Mass commentary - Palm Sunday

Penitential rite:
Today, as we celebrate Palm Sunday, and as we  reflect upon the very great love that God has for us, revealed in his Son, let us call to mind our sins:
Lord Jesus, in your dying you have revealed to us the love of the Father: Lord, have mercy.
Christ Jesus, in your journey to the cross and in your death you emptied yourself for our sake: Christ, have mercy.
Lord Jesus, in your resurrection you have set us free: Lord, have mercy.

Prayers of the faithful:
Priest: The Lord God has given us our faith as a gift and the courage to witness that faith; may we now speak our words of prayer for those in need.
1. For our Church during this holiest of weeks, as we confess to the world that Jesus Christ is Lord, let us pray to the Lord.
2. For peace, justice, and tranquility in the Holy Land and in every
land, let us pray to the Lord.
3. For those who falter in their faith, for those who are reticent to believe, for those who fear to show their faith, for those facing religious persecution, let us pray to the Lord.
4. For those who will receive the Easter Sacraments and who will be entering the Church at the Easter Vigil, let us pray to the Lord.
5. For first responders, men and women in the military, for missionaries and aide workers, we pray to the Lord.
and God’s great love for all, let us pray to the Lord.
6. For the sick and shut-in of our community -
7. For all the prayers that we hold in the silence of our hearts.
Priest:  O God of love, we will proclaim your name to all the peoples, for you are our help. Hear these our prayers and grant them thru Jesus Christ our Lord.
