As in years
past, the USCCB has declared a Fortnight for Freedom this year in order to
celebrate and proclaim the importance of religious freedom in the practice of
our Catholic faith here in the United States. The theme of this
year's Fortnight for Freedom will focus on the freedom to bear witness to the
truth of the Gospel. The fortnight will take
place from the vigil of June 21 to July 4, 2015. During these days, our our liturgical
calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face
of persecution by political power—St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John
the Baptist, St Peter and St Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome. I will have posts about the Fortnight for Freedom on my blog focusing on the Fortnight for Freedom.
