This lovely little gem of a church is the Sacred Heart Catholic Church that was originally located in Rodney, Mississippi. Rodney was once a very prosperous cotton growing hub located in Jefferson County, Mississippi (between Port Gibson and Natchez). When the Mississippi River changed its course and Rodney was no longer a river town, it lost importance and population. Rodney became a ghost town and is now populated by deer camps and hunters. The Catholic Church donated the parish of Sacred Heart, and it is now located in the Grand Gulf State Military Park. It is a great treasure that has been preserved. I give thanks to the Diocese of Jackson for its wisdom in wanting to preserve this piece of history.
