Prayers of the faithful - 20 October 2023 - Friday of the 28th week in Ordinary Time

Lord Jesus - you proclaim justice.

Christ Jesus - you are the beloved son of the Father.

Lord Jesus - you bring us hope.

Priest: We now pause to present our prayers to God for our needs, the needs of the Church, and the needs of the world.

1. For the grace to live with the unknown, especially in times of loss, transition, and uncertainty, that we may trust God who is with us even when answers or new beginnings are not apparent.

2. For Pope Francis’ prayer intention for the month of October: For the Synod, that the Church may adopt listening and dialogue as a lifestyle at every level, and allow herself to be guided by the Holy Spirit towards the peripheries of the world.

3. For discernment, that the Holy Spirit will guide us in our judgments and actions so that the Gospel can be manifest in our lifestyles, our families, and our work.

4. For those whom God has called to be prophets, that the Holy Spirit will sustain and empower them to bring the truth to society and to proclaim a vision of hope and new possibilities.

5. For healing for the sick in body, mind, and spirit.

6. For our deceased family members, loved ones, and friends, for their entry into eternal life.

7. For the prayers we cannot put into words. For the prayers we hold in the depths of our hearts.

Priest: In the ordinary moments of our journey through life, may we become more aware of God’s presence with us.  We make these prayers through your son Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever.  AMEN.
