Pilgrims prayer in honor of St James the Greater

A Pilgrim's Prayer
Adapted from a prayer I found on the internet some years ago.
This was read at the start of our pilgrimage walk in Tupelo, Mississippi last weekend.

Welcome to our pilgrimage journey today in honor of St James today.
Today’s walk is not about walking 5 miles.
It is not about trying to get there the fastest.
Today’s walk is a spiritual journey, a journey of faith.
It is a journey honoring our parish’s patron saint.

Through our prayers, through our walk through nature, through our time with God and his creation, through our fellowship with each other, through the hot summer sun, and through the respect and the thanks we give St James today, we are on a spiritual journey of faith.
We celebrate our Catholic faith today.
We celebrate our parish’s more than 100 years of life here in Tupelo, Mississippi.
We celebrate St James and all the saints of our holy Church, the saints who help us with their prayers and intercessions.
Lord - be with us on our journey as we celebrate our pilgrimage of faith that makes up our lives here on earth and the eternal life to come.

AMEN.
