Blessing of
the Graves at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City -
We had our
annual blessing of the graves this afternoon. We do this every year as part of the All Souls Day traditions we have in our Catholic faith. We started at the graves of the
priests and sisters, which includes one priest and three sisters who died in
the Yellow Fever Epidemic in October 1878. We then went all over the cemetery
blessing the graves of friends and family members, including the graves of just
about every Catholic we could identify. This is a wonderful tradition here,
uniting us with the prayers and intercessions of our loved ones - and honoring
them with our prayers and our blessings. I even stopped by the graves of Willie
Morris and the Witch of Yazoo City - we don't leave anyone out!
