Prayer for Peace by Pope Pius XII - reflection for Tuesday of the first week of Advent

With the violence and war and terrorism that we see in our world today, praying for peace is on a lot of our minds.  I found the following prayer for peace written by Pope Pius XII, who was pope during WWII, serving from 1939 to 1958.   What a wonderful prayer for us to have in our hearts during this holy season of ADVENT.  This is my reflection for Advent today.

Prayer for Peace written by Pope Pius XII

Almighty and eternal God.
May your grace enkindle in all of us
a love for the many unfortunate people
whom poverty and misery
reduce to a condition of life
unworthy of human beings.

Arouse in the hearts of those who call you Father
a hunger and thirst for social justice
and for fraternal charity
in deeds and in truth.

Grant, O Lord,
peace in our days,
peace to souls,
peace to families,
peace to our country,
and peace among nations.

Amen.
