The Advent wreath is an important symbol for our during the Advent season. May of us have Advent wreaths in our homes. This year at Holy Savior, we have a beautiful new Advent wreath in our sanctuary area. We are thankful to Arnie Senger and the group of ladies in our liturgy committee for this new Advent wreath and for the new liturgical decorations we will have during Advent and Christmas this year. This group is working hard to provide a joyful, festive atmosphere in our church and in our liturgical celebrations at Holy Savior. The candles on the Advent wreath help us count down the days until our celebration of Christmas. It is a sign of hope, waiting, and preparation during this holy season.
Prayer for lighting the Advent candles on the 2nd Sunday of Advent:
Lord God, Advent brings us a vision of the world made new, showing us that a world with your presence is a world without fear, a world of expectant longing for fulfillment. We ask that you fill our hearts with joy at the wonder of creation and at the wonder of the incarnation of your son
As we light our two candles on our wreath in this second week of Advent, we pray that we may be open to your grace, that you may guide us to the transformation of the world and guide us to work for peace and justice. AMEN.
Blessings to all of you as we continue our journey during Advent. Father Lincoln.
