INTRODUCTION: In the Gospel today, Jesus assures us that whenever two or three are gathered in his name, he is gathered with us. Our confidence in Jesus’ promise assures us that he is here with us in our celebration of the Eucharist. Aware that God is here in our midst at Mass today, let us raise our voices together and lift our hearts unto the Lord.
Lord Jesus - you are the rock of our salvation.
Christ Jesus - you are the shepherd who cares for his flock.
Lord Jesus - you are the way to salvation.
Priest: As we trust that God will grant the prayers that we make as we gather together in his name, let us present our needs, the needs of the Church, and the needs of the world:
1. That we the Church and in our Community of St Michael the Archangel be a model to the world in reconciling our differences and an example of how to respond to one another with love and compassion, we pray to the Lord.
2. For men and women in positions of authority, that they treat all their people with dignity and consideration, we pray to the Lord.
3. That we may widen our perception of who we identify as our neighbor, that we may see Christ in all of God’s children, we pray to the Lord.
4. For all whose lives were changed by the terrorist attacks of 9/11, and all whose lives were changed by the war in the Middle East that followed. We pray for a renewed resolve for all of us to work toward peace in the world, we pray to the Lord.
5. We pray for all of our veterans and for the men and women who currently serve in the military, we pray to the Lord.
6. For our deceased family members and loved ones, for their entry into eternal life, we pray to the Lord.
7. For healing of our illnesses and brokenness in body, mind, and spirit, we pray to the Lord.
8. For all the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts, for all our prayer intentions spoken and unspoken, we pray to the Lord.
Priest: Loving God, your Son showed us how to love one another. May we continue to absorb that lesson as we pray for our needs and the needs of our neighbor. We ask our prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
