Penitential Rite - As we gather as God’s people for mass this morning, let us praise God with thanksgiving, let us ask God for forgiveness, and let us call to mind our sins:
Lord Jesus - you are the Lamb of God - Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus - you call us to follow you with devotion and sincerity of heart - Christ have mercy.
Lord Jesus - you form us as the Body of Christ here on earth - Lord have mercy.
Prayers of the faithful -
Priest - Brothers and sisters, let us present our needs to our God of love and mercy.
1. For our Church leaders, may they lead us to be examples of Christian hospitality and compassion.
2. For our governmental leaders, that they lead us in justice and hope.
3. For parents and teachers, that by their words and actions, they may help our children find the Lamb of God.
4. For the elderly and all who are lonely, that they may know our support during these dark winter days.
5. For our sick and shut-ins, for those who need healing in body, mind, and spirit.
6. For those who have died recently, and all our faithful departed, that God who delivered Jesus from death may raise them too.
Priest - God our creator, you hear our cries: grant our petitions according to your will that we make through your son Jesus Christ our Lord forever and ever. Amen.
