Prayers of the Faithful - Labor Day

Opening
We now offer our prayers to God, who created the world and all that is in it and saw that it was good, who sent his Son to live and work among us as part of his redemptive mission on earth, and who trusts us to be the stewards of the earth:

1. We pray for our Church leaders and our governmental leaders, that they work for peace, dignity and justice, we pray to the Lord.
1. We pray for that all men, women and children who work have jobs that respect the dignity of their personhood. We pray to the Lord.
2. We pray for the men and women who are unemployed or who are looking for new work. We pray for their continued perseverance and determination as they continue to seek ways in which to participate in God’s creation and work. We pray to the Lord.
3. We pray for those who own companies, who lead companies, and who make decisions regarding safe work conditions and adequate wages. We pray that these leaders will act in the best interests of all. We pray to the Lord.
4. For peace in Syria, Egypt, and all place in the world experiencing violence and war, we pray to the Lord.
5. We pray for the men and women serving in the military and for their families.  We pray for all veterans.  We give thanks for the sacrifices they were willing to make. We pray to the Lord.
6. For our nation – may we continue to be a light of justice and freedom shining in the world as a sign of hope, we pray to the Lord.
7. For the sick and shut-ins of our community.  For the repose of the souls of the faithful departed. We pray especially for Jack Riley for whom this mass is being offered. We pray to the Lord.
8. For all the prayers we carry in our hearts today – we pray to the Lord.

Closing –

On this Labor Day weekend, as we rest from our usual labors, loving Father, we present our prayers to you for our country and for all in need, thru your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
