Bulletin Reflection - 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time - 19 November 2023

We here in the Diocese of Jackson have a very diverse Catholic community.  We have parishes in the larger towns in Mississippi and in the Jackson metropolitan area, but then we have parishes in small towns and in the rural areas.  We have different ministries reaching out to the children and youth, to college students, and to the inmates at the prisons in our state.  We have parishes that have large Spanish speaking communities or that reflect a particular ethnic group.  St Paul had a vision of reaching out to all, no matter what their race or status in life or religious background.  We hear from the first letter he wrote to the Christian community in Thessalonica in Greece, a community he founded, a community that faced a lot of challenges on its journey of faith. St Paul reminds them that they are a community that is bathed the light of Christ, that they are not a community rooted in the darkness of the world.  In the midst of our own challenges and difficulties, let us feel the light of Christ accompanying us on our journey. Let us bring that light of Christ to others.  Have a blessed week everyone - Father Lincoln.
