Lord Jesus - you call us to be servants.
Christ Jesus - you call us to be missionary in spirit.
Lord Jesus - you call us to carry our cross with hope and joy.
Priest: As we celebrate the spirit of the North American martyrs today, we bring our prayers to our heavenly Father.
1. That the fire of the Holy Spirit will embolden us in the Church to give witness to God and to courageously follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2. That we may embrace the cross of Jesus Christ as we experience opposition, hardship or rejection on our journey of faith, allowing God to raise us to new life.
3. That Pope Francis and our Church leaders will lead the people of God to be missionary in spirit in all they do. We pray for all those attending the Synod in Rome.
4. For all who suffer for the sake of the Gospel, that God will protect and sustain those who risk their lives to bring the Gospel message, the sacraments, or medical care to those in difficult or distant places.
5. That the Spirit will grant us wisdom and humility in the spiritual and corporal works of mercy we carry out in our daily lives.
6. For the sick and the shut in, for healing in their lives. For the repose of the souls of the faithful departed, for their entry into enteral life with God.
7. For the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts.
Priest: As we journey through October as Respect Life Month, as we learn to give greater respect to all human life, especially the most vulnerable, as we celebrate the month of the Missions, we present our prayers through your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
