We hear a wonderful reading from Isaiah today about a great banquet that the Lord prepares for us. We often use that reading in funerals as an analogy of the banquet God prepares for us in eternal life. Then we have the Lord in our Gospel today inviting guests to his banquet, but some guests do not attend, having other things to do. How are we making space in our lives for our faith and for the way we proclaim the kingdom of God in our words and our actions? We can make a lot of different things our priority in life. What kind of priority are we making for the practice of our faith?
This week, our Young at Heart group is going to meet on Wednesday, October 18 for our monthly luncheon after our 11:00 am mass. Last month, our spiritual talk was about the mission appeals that I do on behalf of the Diocese and our identity as a mission diocese. Since next Sunday is World Mission Sunday, I will speak about my missionary experience. We are all young at heart no matter our age, so all are invited to join us this Wednesday. Blessings - Father Lincoln.
