I hope everyone is having a good week. I was able to break out of my isolation and get back to the chancery office yesterday, where I more or less stayed in my office and tried to get caught up with some of my work. I am glad I am feeling better. While I was writing a homily for Tuesday's daily Mass, I was reflecting upon the way we all go through difficult and painful times in life. I was reflecting on this through the difficult relationship King David had with his son Absalom as told in the second book of Samuel, to the point where Absalom was plotting to kill his father. Yet, in the midst of whatever pain and struggle we have in life, we are called to place our trust in the Lord, to follow his ways.
This is the quote which came to my mind, which was written by St Therese of Lisieux, This quote was originally brought to my attention some years ago by my friend, Dr Sara Weisenburger, who is a member of St Joseph in Gluckstadt:
"Everything is a grace, everything is the direct effect of our father's love — difficulties, contradictions, humiliations, all the soul's miseries, her burdens, her needs — everything, because through them, she learns humility, realizes her weaknesses. Everything is a grace because everything is a gift from God. Whatever be the character of life or its unexpected events, to the heart that loves, all is well."
I discovered that the popular Catholic singer Matt Maher used this quote as the inspiration for writing the song "Everything is Grace," released in his album Saints and Sinners in 2015. Below is a link for the video from the song by Matt Maher.

Blessings to all of you. Have a blessed week. Father Lincoln
