It is nice to be back in the “outside world” after I had been in isolation for 10 days. After not having been able to celebrate Mass with all of you in-person for those days, it was so wonderful being back at Mass this past week. Last Tuesday, we celebrated the feast of the presentation of the Lord, which included a special blessings of candles. Then, last Friday, we celebrated our First Friday Mass in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This weekend, as we do every year at this time, we hear a message from Bishop Kopacz in our Diocese’s Catholic Service Appeal.
Also, last weekend, in the bulletin reflection, I mentioned the sessions that we are going to have at St Jude regarding the Synod listening and reflection process, which has been convoked by Pope Francis throughout the world. Pope Francis sees this process as essential to our Church’s mission in the third millennium. This synodal journey, which follows in the footsteps of the Church’s renewal process started in the 1960s, is both a gift and a task before us. By journeying together and reflecting together on the journey that has already been made, the Church will be able to learn through her experience how we can better live in communion, achieve participation, and open ourselves to mission. Below I have listed the synodal reflection sessions here at St Jude. By reflecting upon three different Scripture selections from the Gospel of Luke, we will reflect upon how God is present to us on our journey. Blessings to all of you - have a great week. Father Lincoln.
