I lived in Canada from 1992 to 1995 in the cities of Winnipeg, Manitoba; St Albert, Alberta (a suburb of Edmonton), and High Level, Alberta (near the border with the Northwest Territories and British Columbia). Those experiences of serving in a soup kitchen and a food bank, of living with the priests of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and working in a recovery center that served the indigenous people of Canada had a profound impact on me as a Christian and as a human being. I am ever grateful for those three years I lived in Canada. Happy Canada Day to the people of Canada. I have a profound love and respect for you and your country.
