We have completed our journey through the seasons of Advent and Christmas, returning to Ordinary Time in our liturgical calendar. However, this time, in not ordinary in the sense that it is mundane or without special significance. Ordinary Time refers to the way these weeks that make up the majority of the liturgical year are ordered or numbers. Through these first weeks of Ordinary Time, we learn about the first days of Jesus public life, of Christ’s baptism in the Jordan River by John the Baptist.
With our Christmas season over, we know that we don’t have many weeks of Ordinary Time before we start the holy season of Lent. May we look forward to journeying together in faith, in deepening our understanding of God’s Word and the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist. I look forward to getting to know the children, youth, and adults of our parish family. May the Lord bless us and guide us on our journey of faith.
We are very blessed here at Holy Savior and Immaculate Conception with a great religious education program for children and youth and a wonderful adult religious education program as well. We want to encourage all of you to participate and to grow together in our faith. Have a blessed week everyone. Father Lincoln.
