Introduction: As we celebrate Word of God Sunday on this 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time, God invites us to listen to his Holy Word and to apply his word to the reality of daily life. God invites us to receive his Son in the sacrament of the Eucharist and to live out the values of his Body and Blood in our words and our actions.
Lord Jesus - you are the Word of God - Lord have Mercy.
Christ Jesus - you are our Savior and our Redeemer - Christ have Mercy.
Lord Jesus - you are the beloved Son of the Father - Lord have Mercy.
Priest: As we place our hope and trust in God’s mercy and kindness, we pray for all in need:
1. For all members of the Church, that we may all reach out to share Christ’s Good News with others, we pray to the Lord.
2. For the leaders of the nations and our communities, that they be attentive to the needs of the people they represent, we pray to the Lord.
3. That during this week of prayer for Christian unity, all Christians may find common ground to work together and to help bring God’s kingdom to fruition, we pray to the Lord.
4. For a genuine reverence for human life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death, especially for the unborn and the vulnerable, we pray to the Lord.
5. For our parish community, that we may bear witness to God’s grace through our prayers and our ministries, we pray to the Lord.
6. For the repose of the souls of the faithful departed, for their entry into eternal life, we pray to the Lord.
7. For the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts, for all our intentions spoken and unspoken, we pray to the Lord.
Priest: Merciful God, we turn to you in our needs and we humbly ask you to grant them according to your will, through our Jesus Christ, our Lord forever and ever. AMEN.
