Penitential Act:
Lord Jesus, you hear the cry of the poor, Lord have mercy.
Christ Jesus, you came as a light in the world, Christ have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you bring us the Father’s love and compassion, Lord have mercy.
Celebrant: The love of Christ gathers us together in faith so that we might be renewed in our baptism and our commitment to mission. We make our prayer to the Father this evening:
1. For all Christian communities throughout the world. May God pour out his blessings on us that we may bring the joy of the Gospel in all our daily encounters with our neighbor.
2. For all missionaries: for the Christian communities that sent them and for all the communities that received them and welcomed them. We ask God to bless all our missionaries and to bless all of us to be missionary in spirit.
3. For those in our world who suffer injustice and those who are victims of violence or terrorism. Grant them your comfort, peace, and help us to contribute our missionary efforts in making this world a better place for all.
4. For our own families, children, and youth: we thank God for our families and we ask him to bless them, especially those who are going through challenges and struggles.
5. The harvest is large but the laborers are few. We pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers to his harvest.
6. For the sick and shut-ins, that Christ’s love and compassion may comfort them.
7. For the repose of the souls of the faithful departed.
8. For the silent prayers we hold in our hearts.
Celebrant: Infuse our hearts today and encourage us in your compassion and love. We present these prayers through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord for ever and ever. AMEN.
