For my weekly Flocknote email reflection this week, I am attaching a link to a short Youtube video produced by the Jesuits of the Low European countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg). It is a wonderful video less than 10 minutes long on the life of St Ignatius of Loyola. It is about the story of his conversion and the way he sought God in all things. A solider who had his leg shattered by a cannonball in the Battle of Pamplona in Spain in the year 1521, Ignatius turned to Jesus in the midst of his suffering and his search for meaning in life. Jesus became his trusted friend. In his journey though Spain, in his prayer and reflection time in a cave, in his studies, and in his service to others, Ignatius found the presence of God speaking to him in his life. This is a specially designated year of St Ignatius, since May 20, 2021 marks the 500th anniversary of the day when Ignatius, was struck by that cannonball. Ignatius of Loyola, his particular spirituality of finding God in all things, and the religious order of the Jesuits that he and his friends founded have had an enormous influence on the development of the Catholic Church and Catholic spirituality. I think you will all enjoy this video. Blessings to all of you - have a blessed week.
